What Halo checks
Sponsors have to report business level changes to the Home Office within 20 working days: a change in who owns or controls the company, a director appointed or resigned, insolvency, a new company name or registered office. Until now that relied on someone remembering to look.
Halo now checks every sponsor licensed business against its live Companies House record each day and surfaces what has changed. You don't start the check and you don't need to remember to run it.
The changes we look for
Ownership and control. A new or departed person with significant control, or a change in the level of control someone holds.
Directors. A director appointed or resigned.
Company status. Dissolved, in liquidation, in administration, in receivership, or struck off.
Company name or registered office. A change to either on the public record.
Share capital filings. New shares issued and similar filings.
A name change or a share allotment on its own is usually a rebrand or a routine filing, so Halo only treats one as a takeover when a person with majority control appears within 90 days of it. A change of company status is always flagged, because a sponsor licence cannot sit with a company that is no longer trading.
Where you'll see them
Your Halo dashboard shows the three most recent Companies House events across your account, so you can see activity at a glance whether or not it needs reporting.
The changes to report page now has a business filter alongside workers. Selecting it shows the full events feed for your businesses. Each row carries the company registration number and links through to that business, so you can check the detail behind the event.
Reporting a change
Halo does not report to the Home Office for you. Reporting stays your decision. When you're ready, choosing report on an event opens a change of circumstance with what we already know filled in.
Where Halo has identified a takeover, the change type and its details are prefilled. For every other change, the business and the date of change are prefilled and you choose the change type yourself. We're confirming the remaining reporting categories with our immigration advisers and will prefill more of them over time.
Which changes are raised
Only changes dated from the point Borderless became responsible for your licence are raised. For a licence we applied for, that is the grant date. For a licence we were connected to, it is the date that connection was made.
Earlier changes are still shown and marked as pre-licence, so you have the full picture of the record without a to-do list of history.
Businesses without a Companies House number
Halo now flags any sponsor licensed business with no valid Companies House number on file, so the daily check has something to run against. Add or correct the number on the business record and the next check picks it up.
Sole traders, partnerships, and charities registered with the Charity Commission are excluded, as they have no Companies House number to check.
