Step-by-Step Guide
1.š± Download the App
On your mobile phone, download the UK IMMIGRATION: ID CHECK app (purple icon), available on both Apple and Android devices.
2. š Get Your Connection Code
Open the app and click Continue.
Select the Connection Code option.
A unique code will appear - leave this screen open or note down the code.
3. š„ Log in to Your UKVI Account
Use only this official link provided by Borderless to log in
Confirm your BRP card number and date of birth to sign in.
Make sure the application says Skilled Worker - if not, stop and contact us.
4. āļø Verify Your Contact Details (If Asked)
You may be asked to confirm your:
Phone number - Click āConfirm your phone numberā
Email address - Click āConfirm your email addressā
5. š Connect the App to Your UKVI Account
In your UKVI account click Continue Application
Click Confirm Your Identity
Click Yes or Continue until you reach the page that says Continue on the app
Enter the Connection Code from Step 2 and click Continue
6. šø Complete the ID Check in the App
Once connected, confirm identity via email or phone
Take photos of your BRP or Passport (passport must be EU, EEU, or a Swiss issued passport)
Scan the BRP/Passport chip
Scan your face and take a live photo
Review and click Submit Information
Having trouble? Try using a different phone first. Only contact us if the app fails after trying a second device.
7. ā Confirm You're Done (DO NOT CONTINUE!)
Once you see "Identity details submitted" click Disconnect and close the app
Do NOT continue with the rest of the visa form
Return to your Borderless application and click āCompletedā under the Complete ID Check section
Once you have confirmed that you've completed your ID check, our immigration team will review this to ensure that it's been completed correctly. They will then reach out to you regarding next steps.
ā ļø Do NOT continue past this stage and fill in the visa form a or enter any sponsor/CoS number. Doing this may delay or cancel your application.
āPlease note:
If you are unable to use the app to verify your identity, we will need to book you a biometrics appointment. The next available appointment will be at least 3 weeks away & sometimes costs up to Ā£150 per person so if possible, we highly recommend that you try using the app to verify your identity.
