What happens if you have lost your BRP?
The standard digital identity check on the Borderless platform uses the chip in your Biometric Residence Permit. If you have lost your BRP, this check cannot be completed through the usual route. The platform's international passport option is only available for EU and EEA passports and will not work for most nationalities.
If your BRP is lost, stolen, or damaged, you will need to attend an in-person biometric appointment instead of completing a digital ID check. This is a standard alternative route accepted by the Home Office and will not disadvantage your application.
What you need to do
You do not need to take action on the platform yourself. Contact Borderless to let us know that your BRP is unavailable. We will submit the necessary form on your behalf and arrange for a biometric appointment to be booked at a suitable location. We will contact you directly with appointment details once this is in place.
If UKVI has directed you to use the "blue" verification option on the platform or an external government website, please let Borderless know before attempting this, as we will advise on whether that route is appropriate for your specific application.
What to do if you have already submitted without completing the chip read
If you have already submitted your application and skipped the BRP chip read, the Home Office will typically require you to attend a biometric appointment to confirm your identity. Our team will arrange this for you once we have confirmed the submission status of your application.
