What's new: Bulk import individuals by Role ID

Bulk import now references an existing role by its Role ID instead of a free-text SOC code and band, so job descriptions and SOC codes stay consistent with your saved roles.

Written by Tom Hext

Bulk importing individuals just got simpler and more accurate.

What changed

The individuals import template no longer asks for a free-text SOC code and band. Instead, each row references an existing role in your account by its Role ID. Borderless then pulls the job description and SOC code from that role automatically, while job title, hours and rate continue to come from your CSV.

Why it matters

  • One source of truth: job descriptions and SOC codes always match your saved roles.

  • Fewer errors: no more mistyped SOC codes or bands on import.

  • Clearer validation: each row tells you exactly what to fix if a Role ID is missing, malformed, or not found.

How to use it

  1. Set up your roles under Roles.

  2. Find each role's ID in the sortable ID column on the Roles table.

  3. Enter the Role ID in the Role ID column of the import template, then upload as usual.
